The Zovii ZV6 on review here is intended for use on motorcycles and scooters due to the smaller, 6mm locking pin. Offering the best protection in this size of the Zovii range, and with a temptingly low price, it still shouldn’t be seen as much more than a basic deterrent…
Pros & Cons
Cheap
Easy to lock
Toughest 6mm Zovii
Not that hard to defeat
Size and weight
The Zovii ZV6 is made of cast alloy with a stainless-steel locking pin measuring 5.97mm in diameter. This smaller size allows it to pass through the vent holes in the brake discs of both scooters and motorcycles, but it’s also often the weak point for products like this, not least because it doesn’t lock into the base of the device’s body to avoid it separating under attack.
Three keys are supplied, and locking the ZV6 doesn’t require the key to be inserted – just press the barrel down and it clicks into place.
It’s larger than some of the other 6mm Zovvi locks tested here, but still relatively small, and it weighs just 365g. I wouldn’t recommend putting any lock in your pocket though, as it could cause injury if you fell on it.
Resistance to attack: lock picking
While some YouTube channels might make lock picking look easy, especially when selling the creator’s own tools, it’s not a method used in typical motorcycle thefts at all. Brute force attacks are far more likely and in the case of this ZV6, the easier option.

Resistance to attack: hammer
The Zovii ZV6 stood up to a lump hammer attack better than the ZK6 tested here, and the ZT6 tested here, but the pin did eventually give way, allowing the lock to slide off the body. Hitting it with a rock would probably not be effective here.
Using the right technique in a pry attack though saw the sides shatter, so while this isn’t the weakest 6mm lock, it’s definitely not the toughest I’ve tested.

Resistance to attack: angle-grinder
Both samples were destroyed in the hammer attack testing, so an angle grinder wasn’t used, however this method would likely be more time-consuming than prying it off.
It’s important to also understand that the weak point of any disc lock is the brake disc itself, which thieves will sometimes cut to be able to remove the lock and push the motorcycle or scooter away.

Zovii ZV6 review: Verdict
The Zovii ZV6 is fairly typical of small disc locks with 6mm pins in that it’s a bit too easy to defeat; I’d recommend getting something bigger and more solid. It’s cheap, but if you really need a 6mm disc lock for a scooter then you probably have a decent amount of under-seat storage, which means you’d be better off investing in something tougher like a chain and / or D-lock. The ZV6 is better than nothing, but far from the best option.
