The Zovii ZVS14 ‘Heavy Disc Lock’ on review here is a flagship among the non-alarmed locks from the company, sold exclusively in the UK at Sportsbikeshop. It’s a tough device and very effective, but not the very best value…
Pros & Cons
Double-locking
Highly resistant to direct attack
Suffers the same vulnerability as most other disc locks
Not as good value as a Zovii alternative
Size and weight
Weighing 585g and made of stainless steel, the Zovii ZVS14 has a carbide-reinforced locking pin that measures a chunky 13.80mm in diameter, and that secures on both sides of the device’s body. This double-locking design adds significantly to the lock’s resistance to attack.
Three keys are supplied.
Resistance to attack: lock picking
While some YouTube channels might make lock picking look easy, especially when selling the creator’s own tools, it’s not a method used in typical motorcycle thefts. The ZVS14 is highly resistant to direct attack, but ultimately an angle-grinder is the most likely tool to be used by thieves.

Resistance to attack: drill
Thanks to a hardened steel, freely-rotating lock barrel, the ZVS14 is highly resistant to a drill attack.

Resistance to attack: hammer
No matter how long I tried, a lump hammer did nothing more than dent the surface of the Zovii ZVS14. The double-locking pin also helped towards its resistance to a prying attack, meaning that brute force is not a viable method of defeating this device.

Resistance to attack: angle-grinder
Using a quality, thin cutting disc, the ZVS14 was beaten, if in a relatively time-consuming attack. However, while still taking longer than it would to cut the brake disc itself (which some thieves will do), it was a little easier to cut the stainless steel body using the tools I had than the cheaper Zovii ZV10 tested here.

Zovii ZVS14 Heavy Disc Lock review: Verdict
The Zovii ZVS14 is a very tough disc lock that puts up more than enough resistance to direct attack to make it worth buying. The only problem is that, while the 14mm locking pin is big, the 10mm of the ZV10 is fine and that lock’s not only cheaper, but it’s also slightly more resistant to an angle-grinder attack.
The Zovii ZVS14 is a good lock with an appealing design, but if you’re on a tight budget you could spend your money more wisely.
