The Zovii ZK6 disc lock on review here is an extremely compact and lightweight disc lock designed for motorcycle or scooter use, but it should only be considered as a minimum defence against theft…
Pros & Cons
Easy to lock
Cheap
Small and light
Very easy to defeat
Size and weight
Made of cast alloy with a stainless pin, the Zovii ZK6 is a very small disc lock weighing in at just 225g. It’d fit in a pocket, but I wouldn’t recommend this as if fallen on, it could cause injury. Still, it’s so small you shouldn’t have any problems finding space for it.
The locking pin measures 5.42mm in diameter, so is designed to pass through the vent holes in motorcycle or scooter brake discs.
Three keys are included, and locking doesn’t need the key to be inserted – just press the barrel down and it engages. Due to this being a 6mm lock, the pin does not secure in the base of the device.
Resistance to attack: lock picking
While some YouTube channels might make lock picking look easy, especially when selling the creator’s own tools, it’s not a theft method used in typical motorcycle thefts at all. Brute force attacks are far more likely and in the case of this device, much quicker.

Resistance to attack: hammer
Sadly the Zovii ZX6 put up barely any resistance to a lump hammer attack, smashing off the disc quickly as it broke on the side.
Prying it off with a claw hammer also resulted in a very quick failure.

Resistance to attack: angle-grinder
Both samples were destroyed in the hammer attack testing, so an angle grinder wasn’t used, however this method would be more time-consuming than hitting it.
It’s important to also understand that the weak point of any disc lock is the brake disc itself, which thieves will sometimes cut to be able to remove the lock and push the motorcycle or scooter away.

Zovii ZK6 review: Verdict
Due to the design of scooter brake discs, it’s often necessary to use a lock with a 6mm pin that will pass through the vent holes, but scooters also tend to have a decent amount of storage under the seat, so I’d really recommend a chain and / or a D-lock.
The Zovii ZX6 is extremely easy to defeat, so really shouldn’t be considered as anything more than a very basic deterrent. At £12.99 it’s definitely better than nothing, but I’d strongly suggest investing more in something stronger.
