On the eve of its 20th birthday and popular with an audience still 3-4 years away from their 20th birthdays, the fourth generation of Peugeot’s Speedfight is expected in UK dealerships imminently.
The two-stroke 50cc machine range gets a complete makeover with a new engine. The base level and air-cooled scooter is available from £1,899 while the higher spec, liquid-cooled Iceblade and Pure models are priced from £2,099. They also have a rear disc instead of drum brake.
The new motor delivers a reported 5% more power (4kw / 5.4bhp) and 15% more torque thanks to a new carburettor and other upgrades for the Iceblade and Pure models include matching pillion seat cowls, stainless steel footboards and bar ends, highlighted inserts in the air intakes and limited edition alloy wheels.
Pure has gold detail on its headlights and on the bodywork with 13” all gold wheel rims. Iceblade meanwhile is all-white with red detail and black wheels.
The stylish little Speedfight 4 can be ridden on an AM licence, making it accessible to anyone aged 16 or over. AM category scooters can also be ridden by anyone who passed their car driving test before 1st February 2001, without the need to take any extra tests.
Its dashboard has both USB and 12V sockets and is ready to take a RAM® X-Grip® smartphone holder while twin helicoid headlights, separated by the distinctive grille, micro bulb crystal turn indicators and aviation-style fuel cap are other distinctive features. The base model is available in blue France, flat Red and fluo apple green.
All are covered by a 2-year unlimited mileage parts & labour warranty. Information and details of authorised Peugeot Scooter dealers can be found at www.peugeotscooters.co.uk
