British brothers Matt and Harry Truelove are set for a return to the East Coast of the United States to contest once again in the Daytona 200, which runs for the 83rd time on Saturday March 8 2025.

Following a successful trip 12 months ago, where Matt finished 12th in the race and top British rider, the pair have decided to make their return to the event, once again onboard their own Truelove Brothers Racing Suzuki GSX-R750’s.

The duo head to Florida after a full year of riding their home built machines in 2024, with Matt contesting selected rounds of the British Supersport Championship on his own bike, alongside Harry riding for the Astro JJR squad, who also ran Suzukis.

Matt finished last season in seventh place of the Pirelli National Superstock Championship standings, after a successful season with his TAG Racing Honda team, taking to the podium at Knockhill and a host of top six finishes along the way onboard the teams Honda Fireblade.

Younger brother Harry also enjoyed a fruitful campaign in 2024, his first full year of racing after taking a sabbatical in 2023 following a difficult few rounds in the World Supersport Championship. He took to the podium at Cadwell Park whilst also collecting a host of top six results during the year, eventually rounding the season off in fifth place of the standings.

But the pair are now fully focussed on returning to the Floridian coast on March 8th aiming to better their results from 2024, as they look to hold on to their ‘top Brit’ crown.

“After the success we had in 2024 it only felt right to go back and have another crack at the race,” Matt said exclusively to BikeSocial. “A lot of people don’t see the effort that goes in behind the scenes to make this happen, but it’s a race like no other, so to be a part of it is certainly quite special and it’s well worth the effort we all put in.

“Last year we went into the event knowing it was going to be a challenge, especially after finding out I had broken my scaphoid, which needed screwing, a week before we left. But we dug in, gave it our all and left Florida with a solid result and top British rider, which was quite something.

“This year we’re a lot more prepared, I’ve had a full year of riding the bike in the British Supersport Championship, so we’ve been able to refine the package a lot more. We’ve also been able to get out on the bikes before Christmas in a small test at Portimao, which we left feeling really confident.

“I’m in good shape, well I don’t have a broken hand at the minute so that’s better for a start. We’re leaving no stone unturned this year and I’m determined to better my result from 2024.

“I’ve got to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s played their part in this, it takes a lot of work, especially when we’re a privateer outfit. Everyone knows who they are, and I’m excited to see what me, Harry and the whole team can do over at Daytona.”

Younger brother Harry added: “I’m really excited to get back to Daytona, like Matt’s said it’s an event that is like no other, it really is unique so to be a part of it again in 2025 is really special.

“I had a strong year in 2024 in British Supersport, I had a few good results including a podium at Cadwell Park, and we’ve had a good test at Portimao before Christmas, so in terms of bike fitness I feel ready to race.

“We have a small test planned at a track in America before we head to Daytona, so that really will help in terms of getting us both up to speed, but honestly, nothing can really prepare you for the banking. Anything I can say won’t do it justice, it’s mental really.

“I think as a team we’re in good shape, we have a good bunch of guys behind us so that gives me and Matt the confidence to go out and do the best we can on track. We all gel well together and that’s important, especially at a race like the 200.

“I’ll enjoy it for sure however I want to go and get a good result, the first person you always want to beat is your teammate, and for me that’s also my brother, but we get on well and that friendly rivalry pushes us both on, I think. So hopefully we can both get a good finish and come back to the UK ready for a busy 2025 in BSB.”
