Triumph has announced guitar manufacturer Gibson as its latest collaboration on a special one-off edition of the Triumph Bonneville T120 inspired by the 'Legends of 1959', created to support The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.
Dubbed the Triumph Bonneville T120 '1959 Legends Custom Edition', the motorcycle is accompanied by a replica of the 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue - considered the ultimate Gibson classic and 'holy-grail' of guitars.
Both icons of 1959, the Gibson Les Paul Standard and Bonneville T120 owe their heritage to a bygone era with the coming together of these two greats creating an effervescent combination of timeless style coupled with modern capability and performance.
To distinguish the Bonneville T120 from the standard 1200cc roadster, the Gibson-inspired edition is lavished with unique detailing created with a passion for precision, performance, and craftsmanship. This includes a unique Jet-Black scratch plate with hand-painted coach lining to celebrate the signature machined engine cooling fins of the classic Bonneville T120, plus Triumph logo laser etched into the lower pickup cover.
It also comes with a hand-finished reissue switch on the backplate on the back of the guitar branded with a 'Triumph Gibson 1959 Legends' logo, designed to echo the Bonneville T120 alternative cover badge design.
The package will be offered as a reward to the highest fundraiser for the 2022 DGR ride and the new owner will also receive a bespoke 1959 Legends Edition certificate, signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor and Cesar Gueikian, Brand President of Gibson Brands.
According to Triumph, the collaboration celebrates 'the shared 1959 history and the enduring connection between music and motorcycle culture from the birth of rock and roll to the teenage café racer and beyond'. It goes on to say, 'Gibson and Triumph set out to create a unique custom edition to highlight and support the incredibly important fundraising aims and passion of The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride'.
The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride unites hundreds of thousands of classic and vintage style motorcycle riders across the world with the aim of raising awareness for prostate cancer research and men's mental health. Since 2012, the 'dress dapper' themed rides have helped raise more than $31m for charity partner, Movember.
The Gibson Les Paul - famed for its 'thunderous riffs, molten solos and warm, clean tones' - is classically associated with rock and roll, becoming the guitar of choice for the likes of Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Guns N' Roses' Slash.
